Overview

Irrigation in Houston has to cope with long dry stretches between heavy rain, clay that sheds water before it soaks in, and summers hot enough to kill planting in days once a zone fails. A system that is slightly wrong wastes water quietly for years; a system that is properly wrong kills a bed in a fortnight.

There are three different jobs here and they suit different people. Something is broken and needs diagnosing. There is no system and the property needs one. Or the system works but the water bill says it is working badly. Start wherever you are.

What’s included

  • Sprinkler repair: leaks, dead zones, broken heads, valve and controller faults
  • New system design and installation, zoned for the planting it waters
  • Smart controller and rain sensor upgrades that cut water use
  • Coverage reworked so water reaches roots rather than fences and pavement
  • Drip conversion for beds and borders
  • Anything requiring a licensed irrigator is subcontracted to one, because we are not licensed irrigators

FAQ

Irrigation questions.

Do I need a repair or a new system?

Usually a repair. Most faults are a head, a valve, a solenoid or a controller setting, and the diagnosis visit tells you which. Full replacement tends to make sense when the pipework itself is failing in several places or the zoning was wrong from the start.

Does Texas require a licensed irrigator, and do you hold that licence?

Texas requires a licensed irrigator for irrigation installation and most repair work. Luxury Landscaping does not hold that licence, so any work that needs it is subcontracted to a licensed irrigator. We would rather say that plainly than let you assume otherwise. What does irrigation work cost?

Sprinkler repair carries a $150 minimum, in an appointment of up to 1 hour 30 minutes for diagnosis, with the repair included if it fits in that time. Work beyond the minimum is billed hourly. New systems and upgrades are quoted per property, and quotes by phone, video or online are free and on-site estimates are free inside Loop 610, $50 inside Beltway 8 and $100 beyond. One-off jobs carry a mobilization fee on those same zones.

Can you work on a system you did not install?

Yes. Most of the irrigation work here is on systems somebody else put in.
