Overview

A sprinkler system is mostly decided before anything is dug. How the property is split into zones, what head goes where, and how the beds are watered differently to the lawn all get settled at the design stage, and they are what separate a system that keeps planting alive from one that floods half the yard and misses the rest.

Zoning is the part most often got wrong. Lawn, shaded beds and sun-exposed borders all want different amounts of water at different frequencies. Putting them on one zone guarantees that something is always being over-watered and something else is always thirsty.

What’s included

  • Walk of the property, with zones planned around planting rather than geometry
  • Head selection and spacing for genuine head-to-head coverage
  • Separate zoning for lawn, beds and borders
  • Drip lines in planting beds where spray heads would be wasteful
  • Controller, rain sensor and backflow prevention as the system requires
  • Installation subcontracted to a licensed irrigator, because Texas requires one and we are not
  • Turf and beds reinstated across trench lines once the system is in

FAQ

Sprinkler Install questions.

How much does a new sprinkler system cost in Houston?

It is quoted per property. The cost is driven by the size of the area, how many zones the planting needs, the water source and pressure available, and how much restoration the trenching requires afterwards. Quotes by phone, video or online are free, and on-site estimates are free inside Loop 610, $50 inside Beltway 8 and $100 beyond. One-off jobs carry a mobilization fee on those same zones.

Do you hold the irrigator licence yourselves?

No. Texas requires a licensed irrigator for this work and we do not hold that licence, so we subcontract it to someone who does. The design, the scheduling and the person you call stay with us. We would rather tell you that up front than let you find out later.

How many zones will my yard need?

It depends on planting and water pressure rather than square footage alone. Lawn, shaded beds and sun-exposed borders want different amounts of water, so they are separated. The number comes out of the site visit.

How long does installation take?

Most residential systems are a small number of days on site once scheduled, depending on the size of the property and ground conditions. The estimate sets out the timeline before anything starts.

Will it wreck the lawn?

Trenching disturbs the ground it crosses, and putting it back is part of the job. Turf and beds are reinstated across the trench lines rather than left for you to deal with.
